The 2005 TRA National Meet

This is Your Last Chance for
Free Raffle Tickets!

Uncle Sam (and the TRA) Wants You!

This coming weekend is not only Memorial Day, but it also marks your last chance for FREE raffle tickets for the great prizes, and the lower registration fee for the TRA National Meet in Branson, MO!  By getting your registration postmarked by May 31, you’ll  still get 7 FREE raffle tickets, the registration rate of $65 which includes the welcome dinner and festivities for you and a guest, TRA group seating for the Branson Belle riverboat cruise and show (if selected), and your choice of dinners at the Awards Banquet (if selected).

The prizes that have been donated thus far are some really nice prizes.  These are not small, inexpensive, throw-away prizes.  In case you haven’t heard, some of the better ones include a car top of your choice from Robbins Auto Tops, a crystal desk ornament with a hand carved TRA logo from Branson Embroidery, a walnut steering wheel and horn assembly from Classic Sports Cars, and the grand prize is a pair of tickets on Continental Airlines to any destination in the continental U.S., Alaska, Canada, or the Caribbean!

As I’m sure you’ve heard, we have scheduled some terrific drives, a winery tour, a poker rallye, a fun-khana, an incredible autocross, and four nights of action packed events beginning on Wednesday night for the early attendees.  Plaques will be awarded for winners in the poker rallye, the fun-khana, and of course, the autocross.

One more plea to you folks “west of the Mississippi River”.  We haven’t received as many registrations as we had hoped to get from you.  This is the first TRA meet ever to be held west of the Mississippi, and it may never happen again!  So we urge you to take advantage while you can.  You won’t be sorry!

As we're sure you’ve heard, we have designed some terrific drives, a poker rallye, a fun-khana, an incredible autocross, and four nights of action packed events beginning on Wednesday night for the early attendees.

We also want to explain one more time about the Participant’s Choice show.  This will not be the normal “political” type of participant’s choice show.  There will be people from all over the country representing many different clubs, rather than a concentration of a few clubs that will vote up their own.  There will be classes for each type of Triumph entered, based on the number of entrants registered, and trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each of those classes.  These will be the same trophies that will be awarded for the Concours show.  There will also be an award given for the “Best of Show” in Participant’s Choice.  Again, this show is open to ALL Triumphs, regardless of year or model, so bring your Spit, GT6, TR6, TR7, TR8, Stag, Herald, Vitesse, Gloria, or whatever you may have.

Once again, the “Early Bird Deadline” has passed, however, there’s still time to get your registration to us and still get 7 FREE raffle tickets good for the door prize giveaway at the Awards Banquet on Saturday night.  If you get your registration postmarked on or before May 31, you’ll get the tickets and still get the reduced rate of $65 for full registration.  You’ll also be guaranteed TRA seating at the Riverboat Dinner and Cruise (if selected), and your meal choice at the Awards Banquet, not to mention the Welcome Dinner and festivities.

The schedule of events, registration form, contact information, and links to all Branson information are also on the hosts' website at www.TexasTriumphRegister.org.
Don’t wait for the prices to go up--make your reservations and get your registration in TODAY!!!

The host hotel is The Dutton Family Inn, where rooms have been secured at the unbelievable price of $40 per night for all TRA attendees.  Call the Dutton’s at 1-888-388-8661 and identify yourself as a TRA or Triumph show attendee, or check out their website at www.theduttons.com.

NEW ACTIVITY!!  Note from Jim Wortsman:

As if there wasn’t enough to do already in Branson for the 2005 TRA Nationals, we have received an “Early Bird” offer from the Starlite Theater.  Starlite Theater puts on a nightly show called “Lost in the 50’s”, which is a 2 hour show with music, and dancing from the 50’s decade.  A few of us saw this last week when we were in Branson, and it is terrific!

For those who will be in Branson on Wednesday, June 22, the Starlite has asked if we would show our cars that evening at their theater, which is right on the main strip.  They will section off an area for us to show, and will host a complimentary ice cream social after the show, at which the show’s cast will also attend.  The regular price for this show is $27 per person, but they have extended us a price of $14 per person!  This must be paid to the Starlite 2 days in advance, so if you are interested, you need to get your money to me ahead of time.  This is a separate event from the rest of the TRA meet, so your checks should be made out to me (Jim Wortsman), not the TTR or TRA, and mailed to the following address:

                                    Jim Wortsman, TTR

                                    5302 Pebble Way Lane

                                    Houston , TX   77041

I will take care of the payment to the Starlite when I get to Branson on Monday, June 20, and get all the tickets.  We will arrange a meeting place and time to distribute the tickets later.  Since I will be leaving for Branson on Sunday, June 19, you need to mail your checks no later than Friday, June 10, so I will get them in time.

I hope those of you who will be here early, will take advantage of this opportunity.  If you enjoy the music from the 50’s era, you will love this show!

Regards,

Jim Wortsman, President

Hotel Update--April 8, 2005

This hotel update is based on specific figures received from the Dutton Family Inn.  The tour bus that was cornering many of the rooms on Wednesday and Thursday, has cancelled, so those rooms have now opened up.  The hotel staff is contacting several TRA attendees, who left names and numbers, to make them aware of this, but I wanted to bring everyone up to date.  As of my discussion with them within the last hour, these are the number of rooms available by day:

Monday           June 20            73 rooms

Tuesday           June 21            35 rooms

Wednesday      June 22            23 rooms

Thursday          June 23            24 rooms

Friday              June 24              3 rooms

Saturday           June 25              4 rooms

You can reach the Dutton Inn at 1-800-942-4626.

Again, the Day’s Inn across the street is our overflow facility, so you are still welcome to make your reservations there, if you wish.  You can reach them at 1-417-334-5544.

We are excited about the opportunity of seeing many new faces and many new cars that will take advantage of this great location, the weather, and the terrific schedule of events!
